At the time of the accident, Miss R was preparing food for residents as part of her normal working duties. However, she was instructed to undertake a task that she had never previously performed and had not received adequate training to carry out safely.
Investigations into the accident revealed that her employer had failed to provide sufficient training in relation to the kitchen appliances being used. As a result of these failings, Miss R suffered a serious accident that caused third-degree burns to her face and chest.
The injuries were extremely painful and understandably had a significant impact on Miss R’s wellbeing and confidence. In addition to the physical effects of the burns, she also suffered financial losses arising from the accident.
Liability for the accident was admitted by the Defendant’s insurer at an early stage. However, the value of the claim remained in dispute throughout the matter. Given the nature of the injuries, it was crucial to obtain detailed medical evidence to properly assess the extent of the scarring and any long-term consequences.

Once this evidence had been secured, we issued court proceedings to ensure that Miss R’s claim was properly advanced and to pursue the compensation she deserved.
Following negotiations, we successfully secured a five-figure settlement for Miss R, compensating her for the injuries she sustained and the financial losses arising from the workplace accident.
